Iran’s Int’l Urban Film Festival reveals national titles

The 6th edition of the International Urban Film Festival in Iran unveils 26 titles for national competition.

The 6th edition of the International Urban Film Festival in Iran has unveiled 26 film titles for national competition.

According to the festival’s public relations office, the selection committee comprised of Mohammad Ehsani, Abdolhassan Barzideh, Fereydoun Hassanpour, Seyyed-Jamal Sadatian, and Reza Maghsoudi has chosen the competing films.

The lineup includes titles such as ‘Lantouri’ by Reza Dormishian, ‘Atmosphere Station’ by Mehdi Jafari, ‘Midday Event’ by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, and ‘Under the Smokey Roof’ by Pouran Derakhshandeh.

‘A House on the 41st Street’ by Hamid-Reza Qorbani, ‘Abajan’ by Hatef Alimardani, ‘The Villa Residents’ by Monir Qeydi, and ‘Red Polish’ by Seyyed-Jamal Seyyed-Hatami are also in the lineup.

The list goes on with ‘Malaria’ by Parviz Shahbazi, ‘Azar’ by Mohammad Hamzeii, ‘Season of Narges’ by Negar Azarbaijani, and ‘Daughter’ by Reza Mirkarimi.

Organized by the Art and Culture Organization of Tehran Municipality, the festival’s film categories include Iranian Cinema (competition), International Cinema (competition) and Neighborhood section.

The event also seeks to promote empathy and moral values in cinematic works and offers a platform for exchange of ideas and experiences among the cities of the world.

The 6th edition of the International Urban Film Festival is slated for July 31 to August 5, 2017.
